Sri Lanka, who lost in the 50-over World Cup final in April, get their World Twenty20 campaign under way on Friday when they take on Kenya.
The Kenyans were hammered by New Zealand in their opener and are unlikely to pose many problems.
Sri Lanka will be without star off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, who misses the tournament with injury.
Several other players who played in the Caribbean are also missing but the team still looks capable of a good campaign.
